Starting an internship can be overwhelming. There are a lot of skills that one has to learn in a short period, as well as the procedures specific to the new work environment.
To support our new interns learning, each summer our chief residents run sessions to learn and focus on core skills. This prepares interns for their roles on the inpatient team.
The following were some of the topics covered this year:
- Writing good notes
- Giving good presentation
- The admission process
- The discharge process
- Receiving feedback
- Self directed learning tips and resources
- Clinical reasoning foundation
- Interpreter services
