The Cambridge Birth Center is an intimate, warm, home-like setting right across the street from the hospital. That's why so many women with a low risk pregnancy see us as a great choice.

  • Parking Information

    There is an underground parking garage at Cambridge Hospital. The rate for patients and patient visitors is a maximum of $8 per day for any stay over 3 hours. You can get a coupon at the front desk before leaving.

    Bus: 69, 83, 91

    Subway: Red line, Harvard Sq. or Central Sq. followed by a 10-15 minute walk to the hospital

COVID-19 alerts for in-person visits

  • Everybody Must Wear a Mask

    Please wear a mask or face covering when you come for your in-person visit.

    Don't worry, we'll be wearing them too!

    Please do not wear a mask with valves or vents. These protect you but don't protect others.

  • Who Can Come to Your Visit?

    Please come to your visit alone, if you are able.

    Visitors are permitted only in special circumstances, when necessary for patient well-being:

    1. For children, one parent or caregiver is allowed for most visits.
    2. For adults, one caretaker can come to the visit, if needed.

    Please tell your team if you, or someone you care for, has intellectual, developmental, or physical disabilities or other caregiving needs.

  • Remember to Maintain Social Distance

    We have new standards to help people keep a safe distance.

      1. We are asking everyone to stay 6 feet apart. Some of our sites have markings on the floor to show this
      2. All our waiting rooms have new seating arrangements
      3. We are only letting a small number of people into our clinics at any one time

    1. You Will be Screened for Illness

      Everyone will be screened for illness before entering CHA buildings.

      You will be asked questions about COVID symptoms (fever or chills, shortness of breath, cough, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.)

      If you are feeling sick, or have been near someone who you know has COVID-19, please call us before your visit. Your care team may give you advice over the phone or ask you to be seen at a different location.

    2. You Will Need to Clean Your Hands

      Keeping your hands clean is one way to stop the spread of illness.

      You will be asked to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer when you enter any CHA building.

    • Get an interpreter?

      If you prefer to speak another language during your visit: 

      Please tell your care team before your next visit. Our interpreter services team can help.

      Please note, there is no charge for this service. 

    • Get a health screening or check-up?

      Your primary care team knows when you are due for routine care, like tests, immunizations and health screenings.

      Just ask them what you need and when.

      You can now pay your bill online.

      We accept most health insurance. But if you have any questions about what services are covered, please call your insurance company directly.

      MyCHArt is a secure system that lets you see and manage your health care from a computer or smart phone. MyCHArt lets you ask questions, request appointments, refill medications and review lab results.

    • Get refills?

      For the best service, just call your pharmacy to get your prescription refilled.

      Please don’t wait until you have used all your medication before calling. However, if you have run out of your medication, tell the pharmacist. They may be able to give you some medication until your refill has been approved.

    • Get a referral?

      Please talk to your care team. They can help you find the right doctor and service for your medical needs. We hope you see a doctor in our network. This will let us share medical information and support your care.

    • Get help when I feel sick?

      Please call us and let us know how you feel.

      Our nurses and doctors are always able to answer questions on the phone, even when the office is closed.

      If you have an urgent medical need (not an emergency)

      Please visit CHA Somerville Campus Urgent Care at 33 Tower Street, Somerville.

      Urgent Care is open every day 9 AM - 9 PM.

      If you are having a health emergency, don't wait. 

      Call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency room.

      You can find 24 hour emergency care with short wait times at CHA Cambridge Hospital and CHA Everett Hospital. When you go to a CHA emergency room, your CHA doctor will be notified about your health needs and can help coordinate your care.
