Pregnancy and Maternity

CHA Cambridge Hospital was named one of Newsweek’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2023!

Having a baby is one of life's most joyous events! We want you to have the birth experience that's right for you, so we offer many options.

Great News for Parents and Babies!

Cambridge Hospital has one of the lowest cesarean section rates in Massachusetts. A lower C-section rate means less pain after delivery, shorter recoveries and lower risks of infection. Babies benefit too! On the rare occasion when a cesarean section is needed, our experienced team of obstetricians are prepared to provide the best possible care.

  • Covid-19 Visitor Policies

LABOR AND DELIVERY/MATERNITY SUPPORT PERSON  VISITOR RESTRICTIONS

Due to Covid-19 we have adjusted our visitor policies

    • All patients and support persons/birth partners will be issued a mask to wear when they are in public hallways.

    • All patients and support persons must wear masks while any staff members are in their hospital room.

    • Pregnant patients’ healthy children and/or siblings of newborns may visit, but should be accompanied at all times by an adult, and are encouraged to stay in patient rooms.

    • Patients may have up to  two support persons at a time for labor, delivery, and postpartum care in the hospital.  The support person(s) can come and go on the unit. Support persons will be screened each time they enter the unit. There will be no limit to the total number of visitors during the hospital stay, except for the limitation to 2 at one time.

      • Staff will wear N95 and eye protection, including gown and gloves for all care in the room

    • COVID- pregnant patient

      • If the birth partner screens positive due to exposure/positive test, and is asymptomatic - pregnant patients should be counseled on risks to her and the newborn, and consider alternative support in labor. However, once counseled, if chooses COVID+ support person,  admission will be allowed

      • If the support person is COVID+/PUI no other visitors will be allowed.

      • Staff should wear N95 and eye protection, including gown and gloves for all care
