What are your USMLE Step 1 and USMLE Step 2 CK minimum score requirements (or COMLEX score equivalent)?

We do not have a minimum score requirement, but scores are taken into consideration.

Is there an attempt limit for either exam?

No.

Are USMLE Step 1 and/or Step 2 (or COMLEX equivalent) required to be considered for an interview?

No, but passing both are a requirement for ranking. We encourage you to schedule your exams sufficiently early in that passing scores will be received in ERAS before rank lists are certified.

By the time of application, do you I need to be fully ECFMG certified?

No.

Do you have a program application deadline?

Yes, November 15th.

Do you have a time since Graduation cut off?

Yes, within five years

Do you have any specific requirements for Letters of Recommendation?

We require four letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a psychiatrist.

Will you consider accepting applications from IMGs?

Yes

  • Is US Clinical Experience required?
    Yes, we require six months of training in an accredited American hospital
Do you sponsor any visas?

We sponsor only J-1 visas, and HB1 visas when possible.

Will you be conducting In-Person or Virtual Interviews - or both?

We will be conducting virtual interviews this year.

Will you be using the supplemental applications?

Yes

Unfortunately, to maintain equity, we are unable to connect individual applicants to residents/faculty outside of the interview process.

Can you give me an update on my application?

We receive upwards of 1000 applications per year, so unfortunately, we are unable to give individual updates.

Are you attending any open houses this year?

Yes, we will be attending the following:

  • Harvard Affiliated Residency Showcase on 8/14
  • Our own open house via Zoom on Weds 8/21 from 4:30-6 PM EST, email Jess Collier at jcollier@cha.harvard.edu for zoom link and password
  • AADPRT Residency Fair on 9/6
What does a typical interview day look like?

We break out interview days into half days that run 8:30-12:00 PM EST and 1:15-5:00 EST with preference given to West Coast applicants for the afternoon slots. Each session will start with a brief Welcome followed by three 30 minute interviews with a Training Director and a Faculty member, and a 45 minute interview with a resident with built-in breaks and time to view a virtual tour. We wrap up the day with both sessions at 5:40 PM followed by an evening social with our residents from 6-7:30 PM EST.

When are your interview dates this year?

We invite applicants on a rolling basis. We will have morning and afternoon sessions on the following dates:

  • October:  23
  • November: 6, 13, 20
  • December: 4, 11, 18
  • January: 8,15, 22
