Hospitals and healthcare spaces are safe to visit. Federal guidelines do not allow immigration agents to arrest or take other enforcement actions at health care facilities, such as hospitals, doctors' offices and health clinics. Get the care you need.

  • Public Charge: On March 13, USCIS announced that testing, prevention or treatment for COVID-19 (Coronavirus) will NOT be considered in immigration public charge determinations. This means that anyone, including immigrants and their families, with symptoms of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is encouraged to seek necessary medical treatment. If symptoms are severe -- difficulty breathing and/or dehydration -- please call 9-1-1 or go to your nearest Emergency Department.

Public Charge News as of March 9, 2021

  1. On March 9, the Biden Administration chose to stop defending lawsuits regarding the Trump-era Public Charge regulations. This means that the public charge policy outlined in the 1999 Field Guide is restored and in effect. Find out more here.
