- Public Charge: On March 13, USCIS announced that testing, prevention or treatment for COVID-19 (Coronavirus) will NOT be considered in immigration public charge determinations. This means that anyone, including immigrants and their families, with symptoms of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is encouraged to seek necessary medical treatment. If symptoms are severe -- difficulty breathing and/or dehydration -- please call 9-1-1 or go to your nearest Emergency Department.
Public Charge News as of March 9, 2021
- On March 9, the Biden Administration chose to stop defending lawsuits regarding the Trump-era Public Charge regulations. This means that the public charge policy outlined in the 1999 Field Guide is restored and in effect. Find out more here.
