CHA CMIO Appointed to National Health Information Technology Advisory Committee
Cambridge, Mass. -- Hannah Galvin, MD, CHA's chief medical information officer, was appointed by the Comptroller General of the U.S. to a three-year term on the national Health Information Technology Advisory Committee (HITAC). This Committee was established by federal law to provide recommendations to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, which is the division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services charged with coordination of nationwide efforts to implement and use the most advanced health information technology and the electronic exchange of information.
Dr. Galvin will be advising on federal policies, standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria relating to technology that advances the electronic access, exchange, and use of health information. In her role on HITAC, Dr. Galvin will bring the perspectives and needs of CHA and its diverse communities to national attention, including those related to digital access and equity, patient safety, and experience of care.
