CHA Named a 2022 WWCMA WorkWell Massachusetts Award Winner

CHA recognized for successful corporate health improvement and wellness program

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), a community health system serving Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston's metro-north region, has been named a 2022 WorkWell Massachusetts Awards program winner in the large group category for exemplary worksite health promotion. The awards, powered by Healthiest Employers, recognize CHA's achievements in developing, implementing, and participating in corporate health improvement and wellness programs. This is CHA's eighth WorkWell award from the WWCMA and 14th award overall since the program began in 2007.

CHA's employee wellness program supports the well-being of co-workers, patients and community by fostering a health conscious and supportive culture. The growth of the program has been steady, providing access to a wide variety of programs that support self-care, movement, nutrition, and rest. Annual offerings have included virtual exercise classes, financial and home buying seminars, discounts to programs at CHA Center for Mindfulness and Compassion and local fitness facilities, Blue Bikes, and on-site CSA option.

"People come to our organization for the mission—to provide high quality care in an equitable way. They stay because of the shared dedication of the community that's been created," said Joy Curtis, chief human resources officer at Cambridge Health Alliance. "These connections are nurtured in large part due to well-being programs that celebrate and elevate the ways in which we can be more mindful, compassionate, and responsive to individual and team needs."

WorkWell Massachusetts Awards is a corporate award program created by the Worksite Wellness Council of Massachusetts (WWCMA), a not-for-profit member organization dedicated to the advancement of worksite wellness programs. WWCMA is partnering with Healthiest Employers, a trusted national awards program that recognizes people-first organizations taking a proactive approach to employee health, to implement the awards.

The judging is based on each organization's Healthiest Employers Index—a metric based on six categories: Culture and Leadership Commitment, Foundational Components, Strategic Planning, Communications and Marketing, Programming and Interventions, and Reporting and Analytics. The questionnaire, scoring, and benchmarking were formed with the help of a national, non-biased group of representatives from the academic, medical, and wellness communities.

"Given all of the unique challenges that organizations have been facing over the last few years, our goal is to recognize those companies that are finding ways to approach well-being in a more holistic way, and meet the needs of employees and their families," said Jenna Carter, WWCMA board director and Awards & Recognition Committee co-chair.

CHA will be recognized for its best practices in employee health and well-being and receive its WorkWell Massachusetts Award at a special celebration event on Tuesday, December 13, from 6 - 10 p.m. at Lord Hobo Brewing Company in Woburn, Mass.
