EVERETT, Mass. – CHA Everett Hospital was named a Top Teaching Hospital by The Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital watchdog organization. The award is acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive. The recognition comes on the heels of CHA Everett Hospital earning an“A” Hospital Safety Score from Leapfrog last month.
“Academics and teaching are fundamental to CHA, and this recognition validates our efforts across our health system," said Cambridge Health Alliance CEO Patrick Wardell. “Our scholarly environment sustains clinical excellence, fosters discovery and nurtures the next generation of clinicians and leaders to serve our communities. As a Harvard Medical School and Tufts University School of Medicine teaching affiliate, CHA trains the healthcare providers of tomorrow.”
Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award and the hospital’s capacity to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.
“CHA Everett is a superb setting to train residents and health professional students, in part, because the direct faculty contact and ‘apprentice-style’ teaching,” commented Cambridge Health Alliance Chief Academic Officer David Bor, MD. “We are particularly proud that Boston University PA students voted the Everett experience to be their best clinical experience! The hospital's community spirit, unique patient population, and clinical excellence make for a winning setting to train the next generation of health professionals.”
“We are proud to recognize CHA Everett Hospital as a 2017 Leapfrog Top Teaching Hospital. This demonstrates extraordinary dedication to patients and the local community. The entire staff and board deserve praise for putting quality first and achieving results,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of Leapfrog.
To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must submit a Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The selection of Top Hospitals 2017 is based on surveys from nearly 1,900 hospitals. To see the full list of institutions honored as 2017 Top Hospitals, visit www.leapfroggroup.org/tophospitals.
