CHA Visits Museum of Science’s "Many Faces of Our Mental Health" Exhibit
Members of The Health Equity Research Lab at CHA, with local artist Lynda Michaud Cutrell, visit the Museum of Science.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Recently members of the The Health Equity Research Lab (HERLab) at CHA and members of the community partnership at the Transformation Center, Volunteer Health Advisor Program and Patient Improvement Team visited the “Many Faces of Our Mental Health” exhibit at the Museum of Science. The exhibition is a collection of paintings, photographs, sculptures and videos tying the threads of science and art in an effort to bring to light misconceptions around mental health. Members of HERLab were also joined by the artist, Lynda Michaud Cutrell, who talked about her process of creating a visual representation for the science behind mental illness. In an effort to humanize individuals living with mental illnesses, Cutrell discussed the stories behind some of the 99 portraits she took of local individuals with a mental illness and their caregivers and family members.
The partnership between HERLab, directed by Ben Cook, PhD, MPH, and its community stakeholders, started as a result of a study funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. With the objective to understand the specific health needs of the different patient populations, HERLab works closely with its community partners to improve treatment plans and engagement in care."
