Wearing Masks at CHA
January 10, 2025
With the rapid increase in respiratory illness in Massachusetts, CHA has updated its rules about wearing masks in patient care areas. While nobody loves wearing masks, we feel they are the best way to protect the health of our patients and care teams.
In our care centers and outpatient clinics:
Starting January 10, 2025, all patients, staff and visitors need to wear masks during medical visits in our clinics and care centers.
This includes our hospital-based clinic locations and care center waiting areas. This requirement will be in place until the end of respiratory illness season.
On our hospital units:
Staff will also be wearing masks on all our hospital units, and they will be required for everyone on our Lewis 2 behavioral health unit at CHA Everett Hospital.
Masks are not required (but strongly encouraged), for patients and visitors of all other inpatient units. Please do not visit a patient in the hospital if you are experiencing any cold symptoms, like cough, sore throat or fever.
In common areas outside of our clinics:
Patients, visitors and staff are not required to wear masks in hospital lobbies or other common areas such as cafeterias, elevators, non-clinical offices and outpatient pharmacy waiting areas.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work to create a safe and healthy environment for all.
Thank you for choosing CHA for your health care.
