Program Goal:

The goal of the Clinical Nursing Training Program is to provide clinical experience with a broad range of adults, adolescents, and children in a comprehensive ambulatory setting with multiple disciplines. The program provides high-quality training for masters level students.

Program Objectives:

The objective of the program is to provide an integrated understanding of the psychodynamic, socio-cultural, and biological perspectives of the etiology and treatment of mental illness.

  • Training in the fundamentals of
    • assessment, including observation, communication and interviewing techniques
    • psycho-diagnostic history
    • mental status evaluation
    • psychodynamic formulation
    • differential diagnosis
    • treatment planning
  • Training in the fundamentals of clinical practice utilizing a variety of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and group therapy
  • Training in the fundamentals of biologic therapies
  • Interdisciplinary seminars during the training year
  • Multidisciplinary supervision during the training year
