Nutrition

A dietitian is your “go-to” food coach!

Our CHA dietitians love real food! They are:

  • Experts in helping you find the foods you love in balance with the health you need, by modifying recipes and organizing grocery lists.
  • Masters in creating personalized meal plans.
  • Motivational trainers. They go beyond “teaching” you. Their goal is to inspire you to change.
A “dietitian” has a 4-year degree in nutrition, passed a board exam, and maintains continuing education to improve and prevent disease through food and lifestyle.

The Food and Nutrition Department provides inpatient and outpatient nutrition services to our patients. Our Registered Dietitians provide consultations and Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), and also support to our WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program. All staff are licensed by the state of Massachusetts.

In addition to being Registered Dietitians, each team member has one or more specialty certifications including Master’s Degrees, Certified Nutrition Support, Certified Diabetes Educator, Adult and Pediatric Weight management, to Yoga Certifications and Personal Training.

Use the power of food to improve your health! Medical nutrition therapy with a registered dietitian can help you manage:

  • Weight gain
  • Weight loss
  • Blood sugar
  • Cholesterol
  • Blood pressure
  • Food allergies / intolerance
  • Eating during pregnancy
  • Infant / toddler feeding
  • Kidney disease
  • Stomach upset
  • Sports nutrition
  • Disordered eating

Changing what you eat may reduce the need for medication.

Need a Nutrition Appointment?

Start by getting a referral from your PCP. Registered Dietitians with advanced training in high risk prenatal, pediatrics and adult chronic disease provide medical nutrition therapy as part of the management of diseases or conditions. Many insurance companies cover nutrition therapy with a doctor's referral for the treatment of a disease or medical condition. CHA also provides limited nutrition education programs and acts as a resource in nutrition to other departments and community agencies.
